The thermal behaviour of some epoxy-acrylic polymers based on phenol and para-alkyl substituted phenols

摘要
Some epoxy-acrylic polymers synthesized from phenol and para-alkyl (methyl, tertbutyl and nonyl) phenol glycidyl ethers by reaction with acrylic acid have been studied using pyrolysis in combination with gas chromatography and thermogravimetric techniques. The main pyrolysis products were identified as phenol, para-cresol, ethylene. acetone. acrylic acid, anisole and some higher phenols. Four to six decomposition stages can be observed in the temperature range 80-600 degrees C and the apparent thermal stability of the polymers increases in the order: phenol epoxy-acrylic polymer < para-cresol epoxy acrylic polymer < nonylphenol epoxy-acrylic polymer < para-tert-butylphenol epoxy-acrylic polymer.
