Use of the Amplatzer Septal Occluder device to close selected secundum atrial septal defects is ever-increasing. This article illustrates the central role of the echocardiologist before, during, and after per-catheter closure with the Amplatzer Septal Occluder device. Figures, diagrams, and tables detail each stage of the evaluation, procedure, and postprocedural assessment.
