摘要
Using a transport theory approach, equations are derived for the angular dependence of XPS intensities from semiinfinite solids taking into account elastic scattering of photoelectrons and non-dipolar transitions. The linearly polarized excitation is treated in detail. The elastic scattering smeared the non-dipolar angular contribution in complete analogy with the smearing of the dipole contribution. The non-dipolar contribution had a non-negligible effect on angular photoelectron distribution and must be taken into account. The Monte-Carlo calculations are in general agreement with transport theory approach but essential differences are also indicated. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
