摘要：

The basic approach and principles of a superconducting AC synchronous generator or motor and the merits of using high temperature superconductors (HTS) field windings in their construction are discussed. Machines employing the early low temperature superconductor and HTS are also discussed and an update on worldwide activities mainly in the United States and Japan on the development of commercial generator and large motor utilizing conductor windings is provided.
