Strain of a biomembrane caused by a local tangential force: Application to magnetic tweezer measurements

摘要
Strain field in a cell membrane caused by application of a local force along its surface is studied theoretically. The cell cytoskeleton is assumed to give rise to a restoring force acting on the membrane. This contribution is shown to localize the membrane displacement. The results are used to discuss magnetic tweezers experiments on membranes of mouse fibroblasts. [S1063-651X(99)05003-5].
