摘要
This article contributes to an improved understanding of the thematic areas of fossil fuel subsidies and universal energy access and outlines steps toward increasing the adoption of sustainable energy solutions in developing countries. Keeping in mind contradictions, it highlights the contemporary debate about the elimination of fossil fuel subsidies and the United Nations' Sustainable Energy for All initiative. It outlines policy options for improving governance frameworks at the multilateral and national levels, focusing on subsidy reform, financing mechanisms, information dissemination, timescales and related political costs, cost competitiveness, and the roles of international organizations.
