Optimisation of cyclotron production parameters for the 209Bi(α, 2n) 211At reaction related to biomedical use of 211At

摘要
The cyclotron alpha beam production of At-211 and of the contaminant At-210 related to beam energy were studied. Radiochemical purification of At-211 from the other main contaminant, Po-210, by an extraction procedure was also evaluated. To avoid impurities 28 MeV has previously been considered as a maximum beam energy, but by using instead 29.1 MeV as a limit a large increase in EOB yield and sufficient radiochemical purity of extracted At-211 were obtained. More cyclotrons could thereby deliver quantities useful for clinical cancer trials. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
