摘要：

Clinical guidelines for management of agitation and difficult behavior in dementia are presented. Assessment of agitation and difficult behaviors is reviewed. Nonpharmacologic principles are summarized from a clinical perspective. Pharmacotherapies including cholinesterase inhibitors, anti depressants, conventional and atypical antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, anxiolytics, and hormonal modifications are referenced for treatment of behavioral and psychologic symptoms of dementia.
