摘要
Integration of heads and media for perpendicular recording into disk drives will require new developments in several areas. This paper discusses the methods we use to characterize error rate and servo performance of perpendicular recording components, and highlights the impact of skew angle and external field on recording performance. We also report our first efforts to incorporate perpendicular components into disk drives. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
