Generation of cracklike voids during sintering of Al2O3-10ZrO(2) ceramics and their prevention by presintering with low pressure (2 MPa)

摘要
During sintering of Al2O3-10ZrO(2) ceramics, cracklike voids were formed due to the differential in densification between agglomerates and the matrix, The small external pressure (2 MPa) applied during presintering at 1200 degrees C prevented the formation of these cracklike voids, The results are explained in relation to the microstructural development during the initial stage of sintering.
