Effect of leading-edge flaps on vortices and vortex breakdown

摘要
The effects of leading-edge naps on leading-edge vortices and vortex breakdown were investigated. Vortex breakdown location and its sensitivity strongly depend on angle of attack and flap angle. The presence of naps alters the structure of the leading-edge vortices. Separation of the shear layer from the nap and reattachment to the flap are possible depending on nap angle and angle of attack. Variations of swirl velocity and swirl angle as a function of flap angle are discussed.
