摘要
A formulation is given for the Nernst effect of metals with nonspherical Fermi surfaces. The Nernst coefficient Q measures the correlation of the thermopower and Hall angle at different points on the Fermi surface. As an example, some data from the high-T-c superconductor YBa2Cu3O7-delta are discussed. Further possible applications of the Nernst effect as a probe of the cuprate superconductors are suggested.
