Electron energy relaxation in helium-plasmas driven by linearly polarised subpicosecond laser pulses

摘要
We report the results of numerical simulations of electron energy relaxation in a helium plasma driven by a strong, subpicosecond, linearly polarised laser pulse. It is shown that elastic electron scattering contributes significantly to isotropisation of the electron energy distribution. Despite this, the final electron energy distribution is far from equilibrium. The modelling is supplemented by hydrodynamic calculations.
