摘要
The synaptonernal complex is a prominent, evolutionarily conserved feature of melotic prophase. The assembly of this structure is closely linked to meiotic recombination. A recent study in budding yeast reveals an unexpected role in centromere pairing for a protein component of the synaptonernal complex, Zipl.((1)) These findings have implications for synaptonernal complex formation.
