This article reviews the possible single and multiple couplings between pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) and other steps involved in the analytical process, such as preconcentration, derivatization, filtration, chromatographic separation and detection. It also comments upon both static and dynamic PLE modes, their possible couplings and their main applications in the environmental field. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
