Ion exchange studies on zinc-rich waste liquors

This paper reports on the use of ion exchange resins for the recovery of zinc, in a relatively pure form, from a zinc-rich industrial waste liquor and from model zinc-rich solutions. Lewatit OC-1026 resin was found to have good zinc selectivity, whilst the chelating resins Purolite S-930, Metalfix Chelamine and Metalfix Chelosolve showed greater selectivity for the major contaminant ions, Cu, Cd and Ph. These resins however, showed some loss of their functional groups after a small number of repeat cycles. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
