摘要：

Shoulder pain in athletes can be caused by rotator cuff pathology. Impingement of the supraspinatus tendon and associated soft tissues onto the subacromial arch can be the cause of the pathology. Primary, age-related degeneration and instability are among the other causative factors that need to be considered. Conservative treatment is often successful, but surgical subacromial decompression is needed in some patients.
