摘要
An important issue associated with substrates printed with UV inks is to ensure that the ink does not transfer out of the packaging. As it is vitally important for the food packaging, we developed our own concept of product safety by "migration techniques" for our inks. The technique consists in placing a known surface of a printed substrate in contact with simulants in fully controlled conditions (contact surface, temperature, storage). After a concentration step, chromatographic analyses are carried out (HPLC/DAD) or (GC/MS). Special attention is not only paid to photoinitiators (PIs) (catalysts for photo-polymerisation) but also to degradation products. The validated method is used to quantify traces of active ingredients, breakdown products or by-products. The limit of detection can reach the order of magnitude of parts per billion (ppb). The method has been successfully developed for UV radicallic and UV cationic inks. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
