摘要：

The combination of a heteroaromatic diarylethene core (shown in the graphic) separated from mesogenic cyanobiphenyl groups by alkyl spacers allows the synthesis of photochromic liquid crystalline systems with nematic and smectic C phase behaviour between room temperature and 80degreesC.
