A novel putative β-amylase gene and ATβ-Amy from Arabidopsis thaliana are circadian regulated

摘要
We have isolated a novel gene from Arabidopsis thaliana which we postulate encodes a novel beta -amylase (BMY3), based on its homology to other beta -amylases. The BMY-3 transcript is mostly expressed in young floral buds and flowers, with barely detectable expression in leaves. Transcripts of both BMY3 and the published AT beta -Amy gene are circadian-regulated, with a peak in expression just before the light period in short day conditions, which might account for the remobilisation of starch during the night period.
