Experimental determination of dynamic tensile properties of a granite

摘要
A series of indirect tensile tests using the Brazil method and the 3-point flexural method were carried out to determine the indirect tensile strengths and Young's moduli of the Bukit Timah granite of Singapore. Twenty three Brazil tests at four different loading rates, and a total of 20 3-point flexural tests at four loading rates were performed. The results show that the tensile strength of the granite obtained by both methods increased with increasing loading rate and the trends of the changes in the tensile strength with the loading rates are very close for both tests.
