This article serves as an overview of the topics covered in this special issue dealing with aspects of biomedical inorganic chemistry. Topics include metal ions in disease (the use of chelating agents), metalloproteins as drug targets, organelles as targets (the mitochondrion), metal-drug interactions, metal-based chemotherapuetic drugs, and radioisotopes in medicine.
