Health care expenditure and integration in the countries of the European Union

National health care differs between the member states of the European Union in the quality and quantity demanded and supplied, reflecting different economic structures and health care organization and delivery systems. Since health care expenditure depends primarily on the level of economic development and the structure of the population, only convergence in economic performance and the standards of living can lead to convergence of health expenditure standards.
