The taxa Algidasphaeridium. spongium Zonneveld, sp. nov., Echinidinium aculeatum Zonneveld, gen. et sp. nov., Echinidinium bispiniformum Zonneveld, gen. et sp. nov., Echinidinium delicatum Zonneveld, gen. et sp. nov., Echinidinium granulatum Zonneveld, gen. et sp. nov., Echinidinium transparantum Zonneveld, gen, et sp. nov. and Stelladinium robustum Zonneveld, sp. nov. are formally described on the basis of well preserved material from sediment traps and surface sediments of the Arabian Sea (northwestern Indian Ocean). Furthermore, a new combination Echinidinium euaxum (Head) Zonneveld comb. nov. is proposed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
