Characteristics of surface acoustic waves propagating on a La3Ga5SiO14 substrate

La3Ga5SiO14 is structurally similar to quartz, and its good propagation characteristics are expected. A numerical analysis of the propagation characteristics of a Rayleigh wave on La3Ga5SiO14 is presented in comparison with those on quartz. The phase velocity on La3Ga5SiO14 is generally about 70% slower than that on quartz. The K-2 of La3Ga5SiO14 is about 2-3 times larger than that of quartz. A comparison of the propagation characteristics is made based on several material constants which have been reported so far. The temperature coefficient of delay (TCD) shows a relatively high difference.
