Experimental characterization of flow regimes in various porous media - III: limit of Darcy's or creeping flow regime for Newtonian and purely viscous non-Newtonian fluids

摘要
The pore Reynolds number is shown to be a convenient criterion for determining the limit of validity of creeping flow regime for Newtonian and non-Newtonian purely viscous fluid flow through fixed beds of various structures. For a non-Newtonian purely viscous fluid flow, only the limit of Darcy's or creeping flow regime has been determined. A global scheme for Newtonian fluid flow regime transitions in packed beds of particles presenting an isotropy in the plane corresponding to the main direction of flow is proposed.
