Abiotic synthesis of uracil from carbon monoxide, nitrogen and water by proton irradiation

摘要
A mixture of C-13-carbon monoxide, nitrogen, and water was irradiated with high energy protons. C-13-Labelled uracil was identified in the product by GC/MS, resulting in confirmed abiotic formation of uracil, one of the RNA bases.
