Optical characteristics of the phosphor screen in field-emission environments

摘要
The required luminance for information display is near 300 cd/m(2) for white. The amount of light emitted from phosphor screen depends upon the anode voltage and electron density from field emitter arrays. Field-emission display to date usually do not use high accelerating voltage but the low voltage with a great number of cold electrons from field emitter arrays for required brightness. In these situations, charge accumulations on the phosphors should be minimized to,aet long Lifetimes. It is found that the introduction of a wide band-gap material to the oxide phosphors is effective for improved efficiency of the phosphor screen and that the formation of a leakage path for accumulated electrons may not only increase the cathodeluminescent intensity but also relax the screen degradation. They ate presumably due to the prevention of charge accumulation on the surface of phosphors. (C) 1997 American Vacuum Society.
