Preparation of Bi2S3 nanofibers using a single-source method

A novel synthetic method for the preparation of nanocrystalline Bi2S3 was described. A single-molecule precursor contains both elements of a semiconductor within a single molecule, allowing the preparation of nanocrystalline materials using a one step process. This approach avoids the use of hazardous compounds, such as H2S, on the preparation of crystalline particulates of metal sulfide semiconductors. The morphological characteristics of the nanocrystalline material were remarkably distinct from disk-like shape Bi2S3 particulates prepared within the microemulsions.
