Effect of medium permeability on the perpendicular recording process

摘要
The importance of the small recording layer permeability in enabling the record process on thick perpendicular media is demonstrated. Approximate reluctance arguments are supported by detailed micromagnetic simulation that extracts the proper permeability for the nonlinear recording layer. We find that the effective permeability peaks at a value of 1+4piM(s)/H-k for exchange decoupled media. (C) 2002 American Institute of Physics.
