Influences of citric acid as a chelating reagent on the characteristics of nanophase hydroxyapatite powders fabricated by a sol-gel method

摘要
Influences of citric acid as a chelating reagent, on the characteristics of nanophase hydroxyapatite powders fabricated by a sol-gel method, were investigated. Effects of citric acid were analyzed from the hydrolysis reaction of metal ions during sol-gel process. Hydroxyapatite powders fabricated by sol-gel method with and without the addition of citric acid were characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis and fourier transfrom infrared spectroscopy. Results indicated that the addition of citric acid as a chelating reagent during the sol-gel process prevented the agglomeration of nanophase hydroxyapatite powders effectively.
