Velocity and magnetic field structures in a magnetohydrodynamic dynamo

摘要
Computer simulation of the magnetohydrodynamic dynamo in a rotating spherical shell geometry is performed. The convection velocity and the magnetic field structures are investigated in detail when the magnetic field is exponentially growing. It is found that the magnetic energy is strongly localized in space. The energy is generated when toroidal field Lines are stretched by the fluid flows in columnar convection cells.
