Area rules for penetrating bodies

摘要
Area rules are determined for the normal penetration of a projectile into a ductile target under conditions of the localized projectile-target interaction. Bodies of revolution and three-dimensional projectiles with a close shape and the same distribution of the cross-sectional area along the longitudinal axis are considered. It is shown that the difference in the ballistic limits of the bodies is of the order of epsilon(2) where epsilon is the order of the difference in their shapes.
