Diversity screening versus focussed screening in drug discovery

摘要
Which strategy is best for hit identification? Making the right choices in the capital-intensive world of modern drug discovery can make the difference between success and expensive failure, Keeping an open mind to all the options is essential. Two well-established strategies are diversity-based and focussed screening. This review will provide contrasting viewpoints high-lighting the strengths and deficiencies of each approach, as well as some insights into why both strategies are likely to have a place in the research armoury of a successful drug company.
