This review covers progress made over the past year in the area of endoscopic therapy for gastrointestinal hemorrhage including peptic ulcer bleeding, gastric varices, and gastric antral ectasia. The role of endoscopic mucosal resection as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool is discussed, Also covered is the literature concerning percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, particularly relating to patient outcome after the procedure. Finally, there is a brief review of the literature regarding the current and possible future clinical uses of endoscopic ultrasonography.
