Investigation of shear bands under compressive testing for Zr-base bulk metallic glasses containing nanocrystals

摘要
This paper investigated the dependence of shear bands on the volume fraction of nanocrystals (V-crys) under compressive testing. For Zr-base bulk amorphous alloy, the mean size of shear bands is about 0.3 mum. For bulk metallic glasses containing V-crys less than 42%, the mean size of shear bands is less than 0.3 mum. Shear bands become much thinner and denser with the increase of V-crys. Once V-crys is larger than this value, no shear bands can be observed.
