THE CONTEMPORARY DEVELOPMENT of neurosurgery in Egypt is described, with reference to die ancient past and recent American and European influences. This article traces the steps taken by several leading Egyptian pioneers, Egypt, one of the key countries in the Middle East, has led the development of the specialty in the region and has maintained close ties with the international body of neurological surgeons and surgical societies.
