QENS Study of Diffusive and Localized Cation Motions of Pyridinium-based Ionic Liquids

摘要
We have investigated stochastic motions of the cations of the pyridinium based ILs (1-butylpyridinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide [BuPy] [Tf2N], 1-dodecylpyridinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide [C12Py][Tf2N]) with different length of the alkyl substituent attached to the pyridinium ring. The accessible observation time at the instrument enabled us to consider the slower long-range motion and the faster localized one. Both of the processes are affected by the length of the alkyl chain. For better understanding of the localized process the QENS-spectra of partially deuterated samples have been analyzed as well.
