摘要
Angiogenesis is well established as an important component of tumor biology. The angiogenic stimulator, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is implicated, and indeed prognostic, in a number of tumor types. VEGF mRNA is prognostic for both recurrence and stage progression in superficial bladder cancer. Urinary estimation of VEGF can provide similar information. These findings highlight the importance of VEGF in bladder tumor pathogenesis and indicate a potential therapeutic target.
