Ionic conductivities of apatite type NdX(SiO4)6O1.5X-12 (X=9.20 and 9.33) single crystals

摘要
The relationship between the electrical properties and the vacancy concentration of oxide ions on the 2a site in single crystals of Ndx(SiO4)6O1.5x-12, which are responsible for ionic conduction, is presented. Conductivities are determined by a complex plane impedance analysis and are expected to be enhanced by the introduction of the vacancies of oxide ions into the 2a site running along the c-axis of the apatite structure. Single crystal of Ndx(SiO4)6O1.5x-12 is prepared from the Nd2O3 (99.9%) and SiO2 (99.9%) powders. It is confirmed from the X-ray diffraction measurement that the phase existing in the single crystal is only an apatite structural phase with a space group P63/m.
