Phase transitions in L1-xCaxMnO3 (L=Pr,Nd) probed by thermopower and resistivity measurements

摘要
The title materials with x = 1/4, 1/3, and 1/2, which are nonmetallic in a zero applied magnetic field, have a complex phase diagram that shows the existence of several charge and magnetically ordered states. The changes in the electronic structure occurring at the transitions between the various phases were probed using the temperature dependence of the absolute thermopower complemented by that of the local activation energy of the zero-field resistivity. The results for these Ca-doped compounds have been compared with those for the corresponding Sr-doped compounds, which have metalliclike ferromagnetic states in their phase diagram.
