This article addresses epidemiologic issues and follow-up with health services research issues as they pertain to the reduction in the risk of colorectal cancer incidence as well as the improvement in colorectal cancer outcomes. Colorectal cancers constitute approximately 10.6% of all new cancer cases. Topics include a review of epidemiologic studies and patient factors, including a discussion of screening and treatment.
