The effect of some organic compounds on the corrosion of pure Fe, pure Cr and Fe-Cr alloys in acidic solutions

摘要
The effect of tolyltriazole (TTA), phenol and phenol + propargyl alcohol (PA) on the corrosion of pure Fe, pure Cr and Fe-Cr alloys in H2SO4 and HCl was investigated by electrochemical methods. Corrosion potentials, corrosion rates, polarization resistances and inhibition efficiencies were determined. The results showed that TTA and phenol have high inhibition efficiency on pure Fe and lower alloyed Fe-Cr alloys, but inhibition efficiency decreases on higher alloyed Fe-Cr alloys with increasing Cr content in H2SO4 and HCl. TTA also inhibits the corrosion of metallic Cr, whereas accelerates the corrosion of mechanically polished pure Cr in H2SO4 PA is used as inhibitor for pure Fe and lower alloyed Fe-Cr alloys in HCl, 15% Cr-Fe alloy and pure Cr in H2SO4.
