Failure rates comprise one of the most difficult pieces of data to obtain. Comprehensive systems available today provide the user with the necessary means to obtain detailed failure rates and outage times based on actual equipment failure and the ability to calculate industry standard performance indexes with far better accuracy. This article illustrates how a utility can use sophisticated OMS to improve system performance.
