Examination of the adolescent patient

Adolescence is a time of significant change that can lead to emotional disorders and high-risk health behaviors. Many of these health behaviors lead to serious morbidity and mortality. The obstetrician-gynecologist is uniquely qualified to deal with adolescent sexuality issues but may be less aware of other health threats in this population. interviewing and counseling strategies, physical examination techniques, and office preparedness tips are provided in this article to assist the practitioner in providing adolescent health care.
