摘要
The construction of cell-resistant surfaces by immobilization of polyethylene glycol on Gold was examined. Two different PEG-tethered surfaces were created via coupling to an amine-terminated alkanethiol adsorbed on gold. Self assembled monolayers (SAM) were used for biological systems where surface chemistry was created to facilitate coupling, biorecognition or cell adhesion. The dense layer of PEG covered the adhesion of endothelial neutrophils under shear condition. The surface construction method represents a simple and robust surface engineering technique based on available reagents for study of cell and protein adhesion.
