摘要
We study water dynamics in the eutectic DMSO-water mixture by incoherent quasielastic neutron scattering. Water individual motions are modelled by uncoupled whole-molecule translations and rotations around the center of mass. We determine water self-diffusion coefficients, residence times for jump diffusion and rotational relaxation times, previously related to the hydrogen-bond "lifetime". We therefore quantify the perturbation of water dynamics due to competing hydrophilic/hydrophobic interactions with DMSO. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
