摘要
H-2 evolution on electrodes is an effective way to improve polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell performance, reducing the overpotential of both oxygen reduction and methanol oxidation. The reduction in cathode and anode overpotentials is thought to be due to the change in the porosity and tortuosity of catalyst layers when H-2 evolves from the catalyst layers. As a result of this change, electrode catalyst utilization is increased and membrane electrode assembly performance is improved. (C) 2002 The Electrochemical Society.
