Temperature-dependent studies of the magnetization, elastic parameters, and dilatation of polycrystalline samples Mn-x(Zn, Cd)(1-x)Mn2O4 are reported. An anomalous behavior of the elastic parameters of ZnMn2O4 were observed in the temperature interval of short-range antiferromagnetic ordering. The substitution of Cd2+ ions for Mn2+ (x = 0.4) leads to the short-range ferrimagnetic order. The dilatation of samples in the temperature interval of the orbital order-disorder transition be interpreted taking into account the shape memory effect.
