Amorphous phase formation in Fe-6.0Wt%Si alloy by mechanical alloying

摘要
The phase transformation of FeSi powders with 6wt%Si during mechanical alloying (MA) processing was studied. The transformation to amorphous phase by MA process consists of two stage: the agglomeration stage, detected by the disappearance of Si peak in the XRD diffraction pattern and increase of Fe phase lattice parameter, forming Fe particles with homogeneous Si distribution; and the amorphization stage, the grain decreases with the increasing of milling time, resulting in grain size wherein the grain boundaries are the probable source of the additional energy needed to drive the amorphization transformation.
